Once a student obtains their private or commercial pilot certificate, they are licensed to operate in the category and class of aircraft that they completed their checkride in. Since most people accomplish these tests in a single engine airplane, they are limited to operating single engine aircraft. Orlando Flight School offers a Multi-engine Add-on program, that will provide training for students to be licensed in a multi-engine aircraft as well.

Requirements:
– Students must already hold either a private pilot certificate or a commercial pilot certificate
– Must obtain at least a third-class FAA medical certificate

Process:
Orlando Flight School offers a self-paced Multi-Engine Add-On program, which entails a mixture of both ground school and flight training.

Step 1: Ground and Flight Training:
– There are no specific requirements set forth by the FAA before students can obtain this rating. Given this, students will accomplish ground school and flight training until the instructor feels that Proficiency has been reached by the student.

Step 2: FAA Practical Test
– The FAA practical test, or checkride, will be the final test necessary for each student to obtain their instrument rating. This test consists of an oral test portion, which will test the knowledge of the student, as well as a flight test, which will test the flying ability of the student. After the student passes this test, they will be issued their commercial pilot certificate.
